Sports Games

Drafts, stat lines and career paths.

Sports games turn fandom into a daily habit. Every puzzle is built from real NBA, NFL and international soccer data, shown as plain text, so they reward fans who know their players.

Why sports games are fun

Sports fans carry around an enormous amount of knowledge: who played where, which seasons were special, which trades nobody saw coming. Our sports games turn that knowledge into a daily challenge built on real player data from the NBA, the NFL and international soccer tournaments, with no invented players or made-up numbers.

Run the Table is a draft game: spin a team and era, pick a player from its real roster, and build a lineup that tries to go unbeaten. Career Path shows a real player's sequence of teams and asks you to pick the right name. Stat Line gives you a real season's numbers to identify. Common Ground is a three-by-three grid where every square needs a player who fits both the row and the column, and Sports Trivia Streak asks seven questions drawn straight from the data.

How the daily works

Every sports puzzle is generated from the date, so everyone plays the same puzzle in each sport, and a new set unlocks at midnight US Eastern time. Most games let you switch between the NBA, the NFL and soccer, and each sport has its own daily puzzle and leaderboard. You get one scored attempt per game, sport and setup each day, and every answer is checked on our server.

Puzzle answers never reach your browser before you have earned them, and the player search only knows names and active years, not stats or teams. Run the Table also has free play for unlimited extra drafts, and challenge links so a friend can play the exact same spins as you. Free play never counts toward the daily board.

Playing with your group

Groups can choose which sports games and which sport appear in the daily lineup, so a basketball group and a football group can each play their own way. Results post to the group automatically, and spoiler blur hides comments about a puzzle until you have played it.

A few tips: in Career Path, the unusual stops in a career are the best clues; in Common Ground, start with the square you are most sure about; and in Run the Table, remember that a balanced roster beats one superstar. Credits for every data source are listed at the bottom of each sports page.

Sports games are also the best way to settle old arguments. Who really had the better career? Which team had the deeper roster in a given era? Play the same daily puzzle as your friends, compare your answers, and the numbers come from real seasons, so the debate is about knowledge, not luck.
